I started Gottafly Guide Service because of my love for fishing, and seeing the pleasure of the people that I charter. Come spend the day aboard my customized Boston Whaler, or 21' Southern Skimmer on the shallows with light tackle or fly fishing. The Gottafly is based out of The Bridge Tender Marina...next to the draw bridge at Wrightsville Beach.
There is fishing for...Atlantic Bonito in April or chasing Red Drum on the flats. We also get a run of big Spanish Mackerel on light tackle during this time. The first of May finds us on the beautiful Roanoke River fishing for Stripers, have you ever caught a 100 fish in a day? Well this is the best place to make that happen. After the Roanoke, were back to chasing Red Drum (Redfish) on the flats and Spanish or King Mackerel through June & July, with the chance of Sailfish the same day. Enjoy wreck fishing for big Amberjack in August and Septemberor inshore, the end of September, the big Flounder come in and on some days we can sight fish to them as they air out of the water while they chase bait..."World Class" fishing for False Albacore or large Speckle Trout at Cape Lookout in October & November, also be sure to check out the "MirrOlure School" I teach, 2 days of fishing and a night of class and you will understand how to catch with MirrOlures. I work out of Harkers Island there.
The run on the Predator, A 50' Ricky Scarborough lasted for over 5 years and was a great time, but all good things come to an end and this summer I went back to my roots and fished the nearshore- inshore waters with great success. Sight fishing for Red Drum (Redfish) was as good as it gets most day but the "Kids Trips" have always been the most fun as I get to be an 8 year old with the kids for a few hours.
Perhaps if ocean fishing is not your bag, then an inshore trip in my 21' Southern Skimmer chasing Stripers on the Roanoke River at Weldon, NC in May, or Flounder gigging at night in June through September. Maybe night fishing for Lady Fish! Poling the flats for our state fish, "Red Drum", fishing for Speckle Trout in October and November, during this time, I teach a MirrOlure school. By the time you finish, you will have the knowledge you need to fish for Speckle Trout anywhere.
Maybe fishing is not your thing...then how about an after-dinner cruise around the beach or a walk on one of the few undeveloped beaches in our area? How about bird watching or photography for coastal birds in the marshes around Wrightsville Beach or on the beautiful Cape Fear River & intracoastal waters of North Carolina. Be sure to bring your camera and tripod with lots of film to capture your memories of the day. Looking at property on or near the water in the area, Chances are I know where it is and can to show it to you from the water.
Do you like the outdoors in the winter...Gottafly Guide Service is teamed up with Down East Guide Service to bring you the best North Carolina has to offer you with Duck Hunting. In December & January we will also be offering...big Striped Bass fishing as well as Blue Fin Tuna fishing trips. See the "Duck Hunting" page for details.
While you're on the Gottafly Guide Service site be sure to check out the Accommodations, links and Weather page when planning your fishing trip or vacation. I have included links for places to stay at Roanoke Rapids, NC, Cape Look Out, Harkers Island, NC, Oriental NC as well as Wrightsville Beach which are the four other places where I charter during the year.
Whatever your needs Gottafly guide Service will try to accommodate you!
